Taylor Johnson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up skiing Alta, UT. He began telemark skiing at age 8 and has not had a day “locked down” since. In 2014 he started working at Freeheel Life telemark ski shop in Salt Lake City. This was the avenue that really introduced him to the telemark industry. With a work schedule at Freeheel Life allowing him to ski every morning and work in the afternoon Taylor has been able to take his telemark skiing to the next level. In 2015 he competed at the Freeheel Life Cup in Grand Targhee and has been pushing himself in big mountain telemark skiing ever since.
“I had the chance to ski the prototype of the BMF-R last season. I knew this binding would be more than capable of everything I need a telemark binding. Adjustable flex, super stiff laterally, full free pivot for touring, step in, and most importantly durable. I am hard on equipment and I need something that is reliable. When I am skiing big lines in the Wasatch or competing in big mountain telemark comps I can’t have a binding holding me back.”
Telemark skiing has provided the opportunity for Taylor to travel the world and explore new mountain ranges in search of the perfect turn.
